JSS #1 Moss & Cable Dresscoat

DESCRIPTION This new range is designed with the new knitter in mind, to take the next step from the scarf, to a garment. The challenge is to create an easy knit, yet stylish coat in simple stitch textures and uncomplicated shaping. Wool has great stitch definition, so stitches and rows are easy to count. Styling for the body is taken from the Kimono, the side seam left open at the hip, the shaped sleeve and tailored. The collar is knitted separately and finished with fringing. Pattern has the option of either a drop shoulder or a square set in sleeve. USA Pattern in 4 sizes 32" to 55". Length 27" to 33".

TENSION 19sts to 4" over stocking stitch on 5mm US # 8 needles.
SKILL LEVEL 1. Simple stitch pattern, basic sleeve shaping.

INSTRUCTIONS The Basket stitch pattern is worked in boxes of stocking stitch and reverse stocking stitch, and the sleeves in ladder stitch. The fronts and sleeves are a single stitch pattern per piece, the back is knitted in a combination of all three stitches patterns. Armhole shaping on the body is a single cast off. Sleeve increase is quite simple and sleeve head shaping uncomplicated.
